>From memory some software will give a file with no extension, and you have
to rename it to file.tar and open that. Basically tgz is short for
tar.gzand the .gz part is just raw compression so the file extracter
just assumes
that its a file. Maybe the wiki or that page needs a list of programs that
suck?
