The point of providing the original and the patches separately is that
they can be imported into CVS separately. CVS can then be used to
merge in new upstream versions without the patch getting in the way.
Both the original code and the patch will go into CVS.
As an Ubuntu user you may be aware that when you use "apt-get source"
to download the source for a package, it downloads the original code
and the Ubuntu patch separately.
